Tonight, my kids and I baked some brownies, and we’re cuddling up with books before bed. They don’t know to want for more because they’ve never had more. I hope you can still enjoy the holidays with your families, despite the pressure to perform.

All this to say, I know things are tight for everyone this holiday season. They are for me too. As much as I want to go all out and do matching pjs and all the activities and lots of gifts, I just can’t.

It has been 6+ years since I left, and I still haven’t recovered enough to build a savings back up. Between the bills and debt he left me, lawyer fees to keep him away from myself and the kids, managing a household alone, and general life, it just hasn’t been feasible.
