this is not to defend newell, but: perhaps start with the worse examples of this before you get to the company that invests quite a bit of their revenue on improving pc gaming.

and it's not like the $70 games are <$70 on epic games store (or game company's own site etc) anyways.

every billion dollars of revenue on steam (which is not the only store) goes to steam, of which only a smaller % then goes to newell.

compared to what apple, google, sony, microsoft gives you for your 30%, you get a lot more in return too.

plus you can swap between different pinball boards with just a fraction of cost and headache.

real deal is the best ofc, but between no pinball and video pinball, I'm glad latter option exists

how germany did this was, if you were born a dual citizen, you used to need to pick between the two citizenships at 20 or something (exceptions existed).

right now dual citizenship is allowed tho so that's a relic of the past for the most part (past cases are still penalized).

why would you post an unrelated hypothetical in the replies of this?

(this ofc is a pessimistic look: yes, most websites are hosted on a single IP without a load balancer covering many websites in front. still, this only gets you "someone might deduce that you connected to twitter, but they cannot see what you do on there")
November 13, 2025 at 5:23 PM
do you effectively mean that someone can see what IP I'm connecting to? seeing that I go to a website hosted on aws but not the website name, or the contents of the request or the response?

where's the american politics in this thread until you brought it in?

i am yapping a lot but: really these days I cannot tell which game I'm running under proton and which not. It's that level of out of the box. Gaming on linux is finally there. Year of the linux gaming desktop is now.
November 13, 2025 at 1:08 AM
and to add onto proton, all that I had to do to get started was:
- install steam for linux
- (set up steam for game library on second disk etc)
- install a game
- hit play

also: go into settings of steam and set to start on login and to start into big picture and et voila.

there's bazzite if you want a very steam deck-like experience ootb but I don't want to run a fedora-based distro on my desktop. if you only care about gaming that's a good option tho.
