The bandwagon effect.

It’s about how people follow a crowd, simply because it is the crowd.

And businesses take advantage of this all the time.

Here's how they do it.

Ever notice how some jobs vanish two hours after they’re posted?

They hit fifty applicants, and, boom, they’re gone?

Here’s the problem.

It means you’re not picking the best applicants. Just the fastest ones.

We were watching #Daredevil recently and noticed something interesting about how #Kingpin talks.

He uses formal language. Something we usually advise against.

But it works. Here's why.

Most promotion posts sound the same.

But what if yours had red carpet energy and just a hint of over-the-top glamour?

Your task is to write a LinkedIn post celebrating a promotion as if you’ve just won an Oscar.

Freelancers, you should charge a fixed rate.

It doesn’t really make sense to charge for time. Because, with experience, an expert can do in an hour what it would take a novice months to do.

Here are our thoughts.

Get ready to swap jargon for countdowns and buzzwords for liftoff metaphors.

Your mission for this week? Write a product launch email in the voice of a space mission control officer.

Leave your commands in the comments. And good luck!

Maybe it wasn't the budget. Or the creative.

Perhaps... there's something larger at play here 👀

For this week, you need to explain why your campaign didn't perform well, but make it out to be a conspiracy theory.

Leave your theories in the comments.

The UK is cracking down on fake reviews and ‘sneaky fees' (aka 'drip pricing'). Finally.

But there's a more pressing issue at hand: immoral leaders.

Here's what you can do to help: avapond.substack.com/p/fake-revie...

Jargon is killing your brand.

Words like “Bandwidth” in technology. “Probate” in law. “Equity” in finance.

People find this kind of language really irritating.

So just stop using it.

Love can be found in the most unlikely of places.

Spare no details. But let’s keep it as clean as your newly polished smile.

Get your quills at the ready.

For today's trial, you'll need to write an apology note in the tone of a medieval knight 🗡️

Give yourself 5 - 10 minutes to craft your message. And when thy task is done, add them to the comments.

(And no AI, please.)

When it comes to your creative work, essentially, your opinion doesn't matter. It's your audience's opinion that matters.

So it's crucial to think beyond your own reality.

"Time is money."

A phrase we've all heard before. But where did it come from? And what can we learn from it?

Phrase of the week: Time is money
Most of us have heard this phrase before. Maybe even used it once or twice. It means that your time holds the same value as money.

'Bad AI models will make bad writers'.

'If the original data is flawed, the AI will be flawed.'

'Human bias slips through.'

We wrote this a while back. But it sums up many of the issues we're seeing with AI.

Apple's 'lazy advert' highlights a much bigger problem with AI
You might’ve heard that Apple dropped a bunch of adverts for Apple Intelligence – a new AI built right into their devices. It can rewrite emails, create images and use Siri better. But is it any good?

It's tempting to add buzzwords to your copy.

But there's a fine line between creating hype and sounding like a salesperson. And using sales-y language can harm trust in your product.

Ask yourself, is this a fact or opinion? (Hint: our 'great' service is an opinion.)

"If we don't want to rock the boat, we're invisible."

There's a lot to learn from Dave Trott.

With new brands popping up, and how easy it is to create ad campaigns, we see a lot of waffle.

So be more like Dave Trott. Rock the boat. Take a creative chance.
