If I were to tackle a principled Recall-like system I’d probably start by taking a look at the Eidetic Systems paper and try and combine it with Pleias’s 350m fully open-source language model.

OSes could support running an Electron-like “package” natively, without bundling Chromium. Would have avoided the MacOS 26 rounded corner performance and visual issues. And the Electron apps themselves could stop using fucking pointer cursors everywhere.
