How do we design a just world when the systems that employ us demand injustice?

... and often our fears ... when seen from another perspective or through someone else’s eyes ... could actually look like "cute pink, yarn-knitted bunny" 🐰😉

It’s simply a matter of the angle we’re standing at in that particular moment…

Want a seat at the table? Learn how your designs influence cost, revenue, and risk! Then say it in "CFO", not Figma 🙊

Quick-swap dictionary that turns pixel talk into leverage:
⚠️ It delights users
✅ Cuts support tickets by 18%, which is ≈ $XX K saved per quarter
→ Why execs lean in? Reduces Cost!

Design in not a software, it's a 🧠 !
Overlooking true design is like skipping foreplay and expecting fireworks... design is how you business earns awareness, trust and loyalty

Ok, I really don't get what the fuss is all about around Figma's new features launch?! Have we designer always been so freaking tool-obsessed? 🤔

Speaking up about equity ≠ victimhood.
We’re not victims. We’re warriors.
If our audacity to speak our truths and have an opinion rattles some people's fragile “masculine energy”...
Then so be it.

Decided to share a few stories from field studies... like tiny snapshots of people during UX research 😆

Stories from the field #1:
72-year-old train spotter who had to go mow 3 acres of grass

Reflection: The simplest joys keep us going. In a world obsessed with outcomes, small passions fuel us.

in case we forgot 🤣 .. Robert Pressman’s, estimated that
for every $1 to fix a problem during design,
it would cost $10 to fix the same problem during development,
and $100 to fix it after the product’s release

💡 guess, go chat with your designer ASAP ...

"UX strategy & research is lots effort" they say, but:
→ the more diligence we put in upfront research and testing, the more 💸, effort & chaos we save
→ they solve the problem of implementation failure - uncovering pain-points and iterating in design phase is cheaper than fixing mistakes later

dear diary, why is always building something you dream of so flipping scary ... maybe because the luxury of it just being a dream will have evaporated ... and reality asks us to fight the windmills we don't talk about

We, designers, want a seat in the boardroom, yet we avoid getting down to business, that speaks in profit margins and forecasts

We shy away from business tools like EBITDA, ROI etc. convinced they don’t belong to us? 𝗧𝗵𝗲𝘆 𝗱𝗼!

Not knowing this is like building a bridge without caring where it leads

Courage isn’t loud … In design, courage is:
• challenging stakeholders wanting to kill accessibility
• shifting from sharing prototypes, to framing risks & opportunities for the business
• walking into a strategy meeting & saying “here’s how we'll reduce churn by X%, saving our org $$$”

Is this really the future we want? Rolling back DEI is not only a moral failure ... it’s bad business!

The so-called "innovative" businesses send a message that inclusivity is conditional, and progress is negotiable.

What world are we flippin building?
We can do better. We must do better!!!
Meta joins chorus of DEI rollbacks, cutting roles and programs
The tech and social media giant ended a number of diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives last week, including its supplier diversity program.

So it turns out bad design is bad for business.

And particularly bad for your executive career.

How thoroughly unexpected.

ah this one has a funny story 😅 ... as part of our grad exhibition 17 year ago, one of the lecturers asked " did you try to copy Apple" (like the software company) - had freaking zero clue at the time who on earth Apple were 🤣 🤣 🤣
