I think I may have lost a friend because I sent a stupid text when I was majorly dysregulated post-meltdown. I was being my most literal and self-deprecating, but friend read emotional blackmail between the lines and reacted very badly. I know friend has relationship trauma and struggling a lot atm

I stare right back in his face, my own blank.
Kid, surprised: usually you’re afraid of that face
Me, after a pause to think: Yes, but right now I’m masking.
