Never watched Enterprise, I'm an TOS kind of girl who is currently crushing hard on Strange New Worlds. Best Star Wars will also be Clone Wars - the story telling is amazing. Ashoka's arc is a master class in character development. And Wrecker's Bunny is the chef's kiss.

The first step is to finish the story. Then you can edit, revise, maybe break into two books, etc. Start with the story, it's the most important part. Then work on your query queryshark.blogspot.com has tons of great advice. Your query will define the heart of the book, which helps with editing.

Are you planning to work with a publisher or self-publish? Because self-publishing means there's no limit, while most traditional publishers don't like manuscripts to be above 100K. You might be able to get away with 120K, maybe.
