Parents and teachers of middle schoolers: are Saturday due dates a normal thing now? We dropped the kids off at grandma's Friday night (w/o school laptops) and kept them busy all day Saturday with errands--explicitly setting aside time on Sunday for her assignment -- only to discover it was late!

When I was little, the U.S. military came to our home at gunpoint and took me and my family away. We were imprisoned for years in barbed wire camps simply because we were Japanese American. I have spent my life telling that story, hoping it would never be repeated.

Explain your book poorly: MC doesn’t want to live with family and then is super bummed out when she’s given a different place to live, which happens to be the same place her crush is. Shadow daddy isn’t swoony and maybe there are too many beautiful gowns for the ball.
