I think we all need to carefully and thoughtfully evaluate how we make voting decisions, and we need to set up some criteria now before political candidates or media try to frame priorities for us. #politics

Speaker Johnson: Federal employees aren’t being paid. Nutrition cuts may cause children to go hungry. Millions are seeing their health premiums soar.

End the 6 week paid vacation you’ve taken. Join your Democratic colleagues and negotiate an end to this shutdown.

"What an easy way to outsource our humanity, our own moral code. When we see inhumanity in our society, we’ll just blame somebody else and ignore the fact that we did nothing to stop it and everything to allow it to continue."

I'm horrified to hear that Charlie Kirk was shot at an event in Utah.

Democratic societies will always have political disagreements, but we must never allow America to become a country that confronts those disagreements with violence.

Mark and I are praying for Charlie's recovery.

Political violence from any party or any ideology is a direct assault on the foundations of democracy and the rule of law; it seeks not to persuade but to intimidate, not to debate but to destroy.

Its easy to breeze past some of the news headlines, thinking they don't apply to you. So much is going on right now, but maybe you should dig in and look at some things at a deeper level. #constitution #deportation #venezuela #alienenemiesact #whatcouldgowrong

Totally agree. It’s easy to have our attention drawn to the dumpster fire, but the solutions actually lie elsewhere and training ourselves to not get pulled away from the fundamentals of cooperative democracy is so important
Can’t emphasize this enough: if you’re feeling overwhelmed by the debased assault on our country, the antidote is connecting with other people in the flesh who are feeling the same way. There are millions of us.

Totally agree. Nazi Germany and the death of millions did not happen in a vacuum and did not happen without the assistance of many, many people who would claim they did nothing wrong. Harm to others, harm to the world, often happens in incremental steps in the wrong direction. #lawyers #ruleoflaw

There are other historical examples of this also, where someone trying to take power eliminates the intellectuals and civil servants. Cambodia, Vietnam, and Cuba come to mind. #politics #civilservice #dictatorship #democracy
Raskin: "This is what Viktor Orban has done in Hungary -- to clear out the civil service with real expert professionals and people devoted to the public interest and replace them with a bunch of party hacks and sycophants to the dear leader."

Someone needs to explain to our Sec of Commerce how capitalism works.

America has a GLOBAL TRADE SURPLUS on services. Services have the highest margins and profits of our exports. That is where capital and expertise focused.

It is why we dominate in tech globally.
