It's been a few weeks now that I have been driving in the pitch black darkness of a fall night, in a rural area, which I seem to do far too often nowadays, as I just realize... I have mentioned before the importance of driving very carefully around dusk, and I have learned to slow down in rural areas, where deer and other animals are present, and I strive to avoid harming them.

When I started drafting the plot and characters for the current WIP, I worked intensively on the character flaws and decided that one of the protagonists should be 'blessed' with a character flaw I had started to face in a friend a few years ago (and continue to experience): covert narcissism. It took me quite a while to find out what the character flaw means, how it's diagnosed, and what the symptoms are.

I’ve published a couple of posts now about the tidal wave of AI-driven marketing scams from Nigeria that has swept over the writing world in the past year or so. A hallmark of these scams has been how abruptly they appeared and how fast they have become ubiquitous. But proliferation isn’t the only way in which Nigerian scams are speedy. A few days ago, I received an email with the following meme: 3,000 posts on a platform that has barely anyone following me... The water that had turned infested by blood was undrinkable, and our entire Egyptian population had to suffer for days under horrible thirst until the kitchens had prepared plenty of cooked and filtered water to hand out to the people that they could drink without becoming horribly sick and dangerously infected. Many who were seemingly unable to wait for clean water and drank from the blood-infested one had been suffering terribly, and too many died from the infections and diseases.
