I'll expand this to mean any main character, so long as they do good and/or defeat the villain.

I'd pick someone like Rapunzel or Anna, because I'm high-key terrified of life, can scream my way through it to get shit done, and I'd like romance to fall into my lap once I'm ready for it.

Let’s be real—it’s impossible to make a “good” female MC nowadays. If she makes mistakes, she’s too stupid to live; but if she solves too many problems, then she’s way too smart. If you want her to be physically fit, she still has to be dainty enough to be dwarfed by the MMC. Make her good at fighting; but not any better than her counterparts, especially her male ones. Don’t make her too weepy and emotional; but God forbid she not be the empathetic shoulder for everybody else to cry on. She can’t be a doormat; but if she’s too loud or brash, she’s a crass piece of shit. She can’t swoon too hard over the man; but she still has to have one to make her life complete. She shouldn’t smile on demand; but she should still do so voluntarily enough so nobody feels uncomfortable. She can present herself in non-feminine ways; but deep down, she still has to love ball gowns and nail polish, or else she’s making the audience feel ashamed of their femininity. If she wants to be different, she at least can’t be a “slut.” If she doesn’t want to prove herself to anyone, she’s a stoic uncaring bitch. If she’s too motherly, she’s a nag. If she advocates for her own agency, she’s a man-hating feminist. It’s not possible to make an FMC that makes everybody happy. If you step out of line, someone will undoubtedly come out of the woodwork and accuse her of being a “Mary Sue.” So we should probably just stop giving a crap. Y’all can have your complicated mess of hypocrisy and internalized misogyny; I’ll be over here enjoying whatever the hell makes me happy.

Complete with a love triangle (regardless of what gender you are), a jealous rival for your love interests' affections, overpowered abilities, a villain who seems to have no motive other than to be "generically evil," and plot points that happen for no reason other than to keep things moving

Maybe it's an adult down on their luck. Jafar helps them regain their confidence with devil-on-your-shoulder advice, and the MC gets the person of their dreams + the promotion they want at work. It's live-action, but the lamp & Jafar are 2-D

Since I spent way too much time creating lore, I thought I'd throw together a post talking a bit more about my worldbuilding process. Obviously, nobody's seen much of the Hueniverse yet; but on my site (link in bio), you can take a look at the maps of the world, the country House of the Scroll takes place in (Castilla), and a map of Castilla's capital of Pan Anarel. I made up about 5-7 countries in close proximity to each other, each with their own fairly unique cultures. (I sometimes take inspiration from real-life cultures, but I try to invent most of my lore.) When I started HotS, I knew I wanted to create a world robust enough for me to place at least most of the future stories I wanted to write. I planned on sketching out a general framework for the geography and world history, then digging deeper into the places and times where my novels would take place." An image of a medieval street. I use broad strokes, beginning with the basic foundational details—what each society considers its most important and least valued traits, as well as their thoughts on gender/sexuality, age, class, religion, family structure, education, and where applicable, magic. I tend to flesh out any other details if I actually end up setting a story in any location. I don't want to overexert myself if I don't actually need to know something just yet."
