Reconstructing Jesus follower.

Choosing Joy.

Christian Nationalism has no home here.

Aragorn, son of Arathorn, will always have a home here.
As those of us who observe Easter prepare for this weekend, let it not be lost on us that we are remembering the betrayal, false accusations, improper imprisonment and eventual death of Jesus at the hands of his very own religious leaders, who were using the power of Empire to protect their own. 1/

Man it's fun playing economic chicken with the entire world. Surely there are no potential long term downsides.

"Hot" take- you can advocate for physical liberation from systems of oppression AND ALSO care deeply for spiritual renewal and faithfulness at the same time

Much love to my libertarian brothers and sisters. That being said...

I'm so tired of all this *gestures broadly*

As I get back into things, I'm looking to connect with people who

1. Recognize that nuance isn't a bad thing

2. Care deeply for immigrants, those on the margins, and our world itself

3. Don't subscribe to a doomerism, but channel the frustration towards making actual real world changes.

HMU!

Given the huge decline in trust most people have in government, whether it's the system itself or the people in it, it's pretty evident something needs to change.

In your opinion, what might that be? Wanting to hear from any and all perspectives, given that none of us seem to like what's happening

Not everything needs to be a zero-sum game

I'm back from a break for my mental health, so in the spirit of re-engagement, here's some things to know about me:

1. I absolutely love Jesus
2. I believe following Jesus requires us to speak up for the Immigrant, orphan, poor, and marginalized
3. Christian Nationalism is a perversion of faith.

A version of Christianity that tramples the poor and marginalized in favor of the rich and powerful is a religion completely at odds with the teachings of Jesus.

The way people responded to the hours-long TikTok "ban" really showed me a lot of yall are actually genuinely addicted and would probably be a lot healthier if it were permanently banned

Yup. Any institution exhibiting these characteristics is fundamentally broken.
This is likely due to my Southern Baptist upbringing, but I am highly sensitive to any belief system, political or religious, right, left, or otherwise, that demands conformity, is too certain of its own correctness, does not allow for reasoned dissent, and refuses to consider other points of view.

The way immigrants are treated in scripture is the polar opposite of the way that many republican leaders want to treat immigrants and refugees. Jesus judges nations by how they treat the stranger, and boy howdy do we seem determined to treat the stranger among us like a pawn to be moved around

Officially no longer using Facebook, and it feels so good. I was so tired of having most of the posts I saw not even be from accounts I followed.

Have you seen the Ohio Legislature's HB 700 @davidfrenchjag.bsky.social ? I'd love to hear you get into it on AO, it's hard-hitting content

The best part of being a Michigan fan is watching Ohio prove that they have the sportsmanship and spine of a jellyfish. Imagine trying to make celebrating a rivaly win a felony!

Not even a misdemeanor lol. Hail to the Victors!

The last few weeks have been very demoralizing as someone who tries to follow the example of Jesus. Reminded all the more vividly how important the season of Advent is.

I eagerly await the return of Jesus to put right all the abuses the church does in His name.
