I explain how the Australian political system works to anyone who will listen. https://www.youtube.com/@AuspolExplained
They were self-governing colonies. Upon Federation they became state. But even the nation of Australia was still considered a colony of Britain until 1907 when it became classified as a Dominion.

I have heard it a little bit but I think it's just people having only a vague idea of both Federation and independence. I don't think it's a pressing bit of misinformation but I'm going to make a video on it anyway to clear up any ambiguity.

This isn't like a pass/fail thing. I'm curious what people's perception of this is. I'll make a video about it for January.

Here's to another wonderful year of me explaining how Australian politics works!

It's been a pleasure being a big nerd on the internet talking about my second favourite subject (my first is Pokemon). It's been very rewarding to hear from people that I taught them so much, that I helped for their exams, or that they felt confident voting because they understood how things work.

There's a long list of people who can nominate others for the peace prize. It's actually way more difficult to get nominated for literature. Can't be nominated by a politician for that one. www.nobelprize.org/nomination/l...

I've met/talked to federal politicians before. I could hypothetically be one of the literal hundreds of nominees each year for a Nobel Peace Prize if they liked me enough. I'm not saying I should be though. That'd be absurdly unjustified because I'm secretly funding rebel militias around the world.

Going through the stories feed is going to be a fascinating experience with some serious ideological whiplash. FUN! Let's see what all the differences are in what the members of this parliament want to talk about.

I did it. I'm not following ALL members of the federal parliament with the exception of Senator Tyron Whitten, new One Nation Senator for WA, because he doesn't appear to have Instagram yet. There were a few tricky ones that were a bit hard to find but I managed.
