We're losing generic manufacturing of drugs originally developed and manufactured in the US to manufacturers in India, Israel, Europe, and China. These are the drugs that major pharmacies like CVS, Walgreens, Walmart, and other grocery chain pharmacies sell the most of.

The US does R&D and Patents, but the actual tests are often run in labs in Panama, India, China, or other countries where costs are lower and where there is more diversity among populations to develop uniform dosing. About 80% of US branded pharmaceuticals are also manufactured abroad.

We're no longer competitive in manufacturing computers, pharmaceuticals, or other manufacturing. Where the US excels is research and development in technology, communications, medicine, etc. Unfortunately, Trump and Musk are rapidly dismantling academic and grant programs that make this possible.

There are at least a dozen electric vehicles that are a better value or provide better performance than a Tesla. It pays to shop around. That way, you also don't have to leave Wisconsin. 😉

Despite admitting to having illegally sent a guy to El Salvador by mistake, and even though the U.S. is paying El Salvador to indefinitely imprison him, the DOJ is arguing that, well, nothing to do, it's not in our hands anymore. The general tone of their response is "welp, sucks to be him."
