Miserable farm kid who escaped into books. Tangata Tiriti. Grim public servant who’s too old for this shit. Occasional plant post 🌱🇳🇿
My partner was given this dessert wine by a bloke he occasionally works with. The bloke, Shanne, says his granddad makes all kinds of wine. This one is tamarillo. IT IS AMAZING.

When the apocalypse comes, Shanne from Auckland’s grandad is going to make a killing.

Hey Kāpiti 🌱 🌱people, I’m trying to find a Cornstalk Dracaena … tried Mitre Ten and Harrison’s but no luck … any ideas?

Made my first moss pole. Yes, it is the size of a restaurant kebab. That small golden pothos better climb it like a monkey. 🌱🇳🇿

Did a clean of four plants yesterday with the Sexy Plant Juice and am happy at how well they came out. Definitely brought a shine to the leaves, even the delicate Never Never has a bit of gloss onher big papery leaves. 🌱 🌱

Right, time for blue and green (sea, sky or plant, wherever you can find it ) 🌱

I’ve just made the famous @paigetailyn Sexy Plant Juice (water, neem oil, liquid peppermint soap and isopropyl alcohol) and am gonna see how my wee green ZZ likes it.

Kinloch, near Glenorchy. This whenua, and all of Central Otago, were the sight/smell of my childhood holidays. It’s a unique eco-system, fragile. Tourists love it. Managed well, conservation and profit can balance…if managed well.

One more proposal to engage on e hoa ma

Family weekend down south. Kinda complicated, but like a lotta families, caring is food. In carry-on coming back, seven jars of chutney (thanks older sis), kilos of home-grown grapes (thanks other sis, knew they would get squished but dissent was not allowed), also stellar pav making by the other

There’ll be a flood of sunset and end of storm photos from Kāpiti tonight

Just made Anzac biscuits. My fourth attempt at making biscuits that I would not be ashamed to my work mates. These too, will not be going to my work mates.

I am incredibly jealous of anyone getting rendang for dinner. I tried this paste last time and it was amazing, tho can’t remember where I got it

Ignoring this year’s hot cross bun scandal (some article in the Herald about rigged buns, a shady cabal of bakers etc) we got the gold prize Nada Bakery ones (Tawa, Wellington). Smell good, weigh a ton.

I think I’m entering my houseplant years 🌱 🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱🌱 and it’s probably the happiest hobby I’ve ever had apart from reading (and drinking wine)

It was a good day today. Take the win where you can. I know the bill hasn’t been chucked yet, but 90% of the submissions being against it is something to be proud of.

It’s not the best shot on the ole phone camera, but sometimes the light is so beautiful looking out from the Kāpiti coast- that’s the silhouette of the South Island gleaming in the distance

Seems so near in autumn light

Behold, my rum punch in the sun while listening to waves

Take care all in the coming week, it’s an overload at present and easy to let tempers fray* when maybe a deep breath and a pause might help

*Unless speaking to a facist or an annoying rellie or that toxic git at work, which case fray away

Got to spend time with my fav people and their dogs in beautiful Aramoana this wknd. Would move to Ōtepoti in a heartbeat if I could get work & the sun shone more. (tho there’s a falling down house for sale in Aramoana for about $280k…hmm 🧐)

Hope others got to do something that gave you joy
