2019 service levels was recently restored on line 2, & I'm loving it.

as some who works wonky hours (late morning to evenings and nights), having 2-4 minute wait times all day for the subway has saved me a lot of time.

I haven't had to wait more than 5 min for a train on line 2 these past 2 weeks

very funny that metrolinx leaked the December 7 opening date weeks ago, coincidentally around when they handed it over to the TTC. this opening date has truly been a hot potato between metrolinx and the TTC.

took until today for the TTC to confirm this opening date!

ttc looking a lot different this week

toronto looking magical this afternoon

tapping on this evergreen graphic.

if americans (and canadians, etc) paid fair taxes relative to the cost of service upkeep to their household, suddenly low-density car centric sprawl would be far less appealing.

it is artificially propped up to be attainable to people.

i miss the expo line and all of its riders

since REM opened this weekend, this is all i can think about.

toronto has been building a smaller, 'lower-order' transit project that costs significantly more and is taking twice as long to complete 🫠

same energy

the biggest section of the REM (and imo the most important phase) opened today, basically extending a highway-median suburban branch into a full-fledged 50 km north-south metro across the montreal region

montreal now has a 119-kilometre metro system with 87 stations, by far the largest in canada!

frustrated at the city for not prioritizing the planned toronto infill stations built on the GO lines, and even more frustrated at the incompetent province+metrolinx for being wholly incapable at delivering GO expansion.

we should have 5 electrified lines w all day <15 min service by now!

a write-up of existing mass transit in guayaquil, why i chose the alignments i did (including how population+job density and different social classes are distributed), and other details about the system here:

my latest personal project has been drawing up a fictitious transit system for guayaquil, ecuador's most populous city

i was inspired to create tren guayas from the quito metro, which opened in 2023. time for ecuador's other big city to start thinking about mass transit beyond BRT!

I rarely have good news to report about this streetcar system, but this intersection is slated for transit lanes and a ban on left turns this year.

hopefully it serves as a model for the rest of our troubled streetcar system!

Things are slowly changing.

it's finally happening! after a long summer of advocacy by @ttcriders.bsky.social, red paint is hitting the ground on the south end of bathurst street. dufferin soon!

this is part of the most significant expansion of transit priority lanes in toronto since 2020.

back on wednesday, i was presenting to the infrastructure+environment committee as they were considering moving the transit signal priority phase before the left-turn signal phase on spadina, to speed up streetcar service.

i couldn't resist starting off my presentation with this slide ⚾🤭

day 5:

toronto city hall's public square becomes the birds nest - hosting a watch party for every game this world series, whether home or away - so anyone can watch, for free, in the heart of the city!

something tells me LA has no equivalent, though I'm open to hearing otherwise 😉
October 26, 2025 at 3:45 AM
bogotá is building a metro line, part of it along an avenue that hosts the city's busiest BRT line.

instead of forcing the buses into mixed traffic or onto another route during construction, the city decided to ban cars from all remaining roadspace and keep the transmi buses running. transit first!
October 25, 2025 at 5:47 PM
day 4:

the blue jays just crushed the LA dodgers 11-4.

you know what else toronto crushes LA in? public transit. i'm a nerd, but it's funny how similar the ratio of transit ridership is to the points scored tonight.

we're the transit city, and we're the baseball city too 🚇⚾
