This. I don’t regret a single damn thing about #ChurchToo but these aren’t just descents into fascism. These are power moves. These are men telling women that no matter how much we kick and scream and fight back that they will always dominate us. The attitude isn’t just cruel and immoral. It’s smug.
I don’t think it’s possible to overestimate how much resentment and backlash to Me Too has fueled the culture’s rightward shift over the past eight years.
a bunch of east coast journalists got too rattled by having female employees complain about ass grabbing and in response they smugly tilted the entire board not just toward fascism, but to the stupidest motherfuckers in the room
