On Trans Day of Remembrance, here’s the prayer I wrote and read in church on Sunday and in chapel at TCU on Tuesday.
Mother of All, the past twelve months have been difficult. Now more than ever, your beloved children are under constant attack for the crime of daring to exist. On this week of transgender awareness, we hold them closer than ever to us, reminding them that You created the most fabulous flowers in the fields, the most amazing birds of the air. Like all of us, they are fearfully and wonderfully made. May we remember how you provide for these creations, and how much more important we are, and how much you care for us as well. Help us to hold closely those who live their truth daily, those who are still finding their way, and those who are justifiably afraid to share their true selves with a world that hates and fears them. We hold closely those who love them so much, who are willing to fight for them at tables that still haven't put out chairs for them, or against those who would bar the doors that have previously been opened to them. On this day of remembrance, we hold closely those who are no longer with us- young casualties of a war none of us wanted or deserved, as well as our trans elders who have fought for so long. We take up the battle for them, that they may rest in both peace and power. We pray for all of these and hold them tightly to our hearts, then release them into your mother-love, here on earth as well as your dwelling places. It is written that if anyone is in Christ, they are a new creation. Lend us your strength to embrace this becoming, however drastic or subtle that new creation may be. And we ask that You be here now and hear both the cries and blessings of your creations, Mother God. In your beautiful, holy, and transformative name we pray, AMEN

Blessed to spend an amazing class with Paula Stone Williams today! An amazing trans woman, writer, pastor, and Ted Talk person who even prayed at Biden’s inauguration. And I got to thank her for being visible in a position like that, as that’s about the time wheels were turning in my head.

Sometimes I look at myself and realize, hey, I’m kinda cute somehow.

HRT is magic. Or at the very least alchemy.
Right around the time I started hormones. Mid-length brown hair, red glasses and top, and a hopeful look in my eyes. Me now! Short blonde hair with shaved sides and back, but enough on top to have a little flip thing going. Dark blue glasses and a grey thermal shirt with a hood, and looking about as happy as can be expected considering, you know, the horrors. Also, bewbs! (Covered)
