Advantages of a NGS assay for detection of mutant NPM1 MRD in AML #HemeSky

- Detection of mNPM1 MRD by NGS overcomes several limitations of RT-qPCR

- Prognostic significance of mNPM1 MRD appears greatest in patients with AML with a concomitant FLT3-ITD

#WorldCancerDay coincides with my dad’s birthday whom I lost to DLBCL. Great hope with new tools (immune & cell therapies, degraders, molecular glues, etc.). Cancer cells are smart, we still have lot to learn about biology & get better at early #detection #interception Keep fighting and innovating!

On #NationalWomenPhysiciansDay remembering Dr. Elizabeth Blackwell, US first female doctor. After dozens of rejections, she finally got into GMCNY in 1847, her acceptance having been put to vote before the medical class. Legend has it they thought it was a joke

From Cornell’s team (Melnick, Beguelin, Chadburn et al). Includes the development of syngeneic models recapitulating human follicular lymphoma and DLBCL and cool effect of EZH2i on these models to induce lymphoma immunogenicity and improve T-cell function. #HemeSky

At this time of the year, in between parties and the great outdoors, I love to get lazy near the fireplace reading a few good books. BTW, I highly recommend “Race for a Remedy” by a dear work colleague of mine.

My freshman son taking a course on global microbial threats recently told me that by 2050 the #1 cause of death might well be drug resistant bacteriae and that phages could be a new tool in the fight. In that context I found this phage DisCo approach interesting
