#NobelPrize winner Joseph Stiglitz at @au-impa.bsky.social event in @ausis.bsky.social @pge-sis.bsky.social. We live together in an integrated economy with externalities (ie, climate change) where effects of policies felt widely. So for a society with solidary there is need for progressive #taxes.

Did you hear the talk about some Republicans being open to raising taxes on top earners? If anyone is still worried about higher taxes on the rich hurting economic growth, we have good news: they don’t.

What they undeniably do is raise federal revenue and reduce income inequality.
