Then at 14 I had a go at CB and realised I now got more pleasure out of denying goals and frustrating the opposition than scoring. Had also developed some sort of poacher turned gamekeeper instinct that made it incredibly easy.

I was a very good striker at this point. Could easily score 3 or 4 a game. But over time the euphoria of scoring goals faded and was replaced by relief - something that is actually mirrored later on in other aspects of life. And is an overlooked aspect of psychology that can afflict the successful.

Everyone I've seen post on the matter has assumed Mexico will win Group A and are therefore on course to meet England (all going to plan) at the Azteca in Round of 16. Personally think there's every chance they finish 3rd behind Denmark and South Korea. Of the hosts Mexico are ones I fancy the least

What 99% of people don't appreciate is passing isn't the most important skill for a midfielder. More fundamental are turning, feinting & manipulating ball. Without those you have neither the space nor angles *to* make the passes. W/o the extra second afforded to those out wide, TAA malfunctioned.
