Honestly it's not even that much of a spoiler, it's within like the first 20 pages (the name is introduced in the manner of John Cena because of course it is)

M25 is disappointingly plain, or maybe that's the point

Of course a big contribution to the cost was the hundreds of human animators who had to polish the turd the AI initially excreted and I'll just say it: I have no respect for anyone who worked on that. If you agreed to work on this you're a fucking scab.

Only if you deliberately focus it. You can also just use photochromic glass or physical shutters if it's that much of a concern

Introducing: mirrors. Allowing people to observe things that would otherwise kill them since like 2000 BCE

RMS Carpathia did this when she steamed to respond to Titanic's distress call, with the passengers being concentrated in a few rooms so lights and heating to the rest could be shut off to free up power for the engines

This was specifically a turbine-electric propulsion thing, turbine steamers would use generators powering electric motors to avoid the need for heavy, complex reduction gearing to drive the screws, with power being tapped off for lighting and heating. Diverting this to the engines would boost power.

Also, *most* of the kiithid worship Sajuuk to some extent so really the Gaalsien are the space Salafists (complete with intensely retvrn-centric beliefs) fighting against the moderate Space Muslims
November 18, 2025 at 11:01 AM
Sajuuk is Space Allah (and a spaceship) but the Gaalsien say his name more often than their own so it's understandable
November 18, 2025 at 10:59 AM
*Gaalsien, but yes, they are strongly Arab-coded (well, Arab who studied at Oxford). Then again, they're also the coolest faction so YMMV

It also screws passive sensors big time since they already have to take what they're receiving on faith and if they're unable to filter out your signal they're basically unusable.
