Was 2025 the breakout year for nuclear energy? Both fission and fusion efforts got massive funding this year. It can be a source for clean, reliable baseload energy – but we need to get it online, and fast. Hear Luke explain how: www.linkedin.com/posts/at-one...
How Blue Energy is making nuclear cheaper
Nuclear is distinct in its ability to deliver safe, abundant, clean power around the clock. It's truly a 24/7 energy source, explains Luke Zhan. However, unlike every other energy technology, nuclear has actually gotten more expensive as we've deployed more of it... why is this? Behind nearly every nuclear project cancellation and failure are cost and time overruns. But these actually have very little to do with the reactors themselves, which only comprise 10% of the cost of a typical nuclear project. The other 90% of the costs are actually embedded in construction overhead, labor, and huge interest sums that accrue over decade-long build outs. Blue Energy, which we backed late last year, is seeking to solve these challenges by centralizing the manufacturing of nuclear plants in non-nuclear shipyards. They are bringing construction time of nuclear projects down from over ten years to less than two years (!!!) and putting nuclear on a path to become the cheapest baseload energy source, even compared to fossil fuels.

If you want to be less anxious about the future, get into the process of creating the future you want. Then, make progress every day, not at a newsworthy pace, but progress that is accretive and additive. Hear more from Tom Chi @thegoodtomchi.bsky.social ecomotion.us/tom-chi-buil...

For the last 4+ years, CUBY Technologies has been quietly building a brilliant way to make housing affordable. See what it looks like to lower construction labor costs by 70% and produce homes at scale: x.com/AGampel1/sta...

The fact that we’ve allowed the phrase “believe in climate change” to exist is already a category error... it miscasts a physical truth as a social truth.

Recent policies have made the U.S. one of the worst places to manufacture in the world, writes Tom Chi in a column for Trellis: trellis.net/article/gree...
The green manufacturing boom is happening. Just not in the U.S.
Without a change in U.S. workforce skills and reasonable tariff policies, China will continue to dominate.

Pure likability has its limits, Tom Chi told @businessinsider.com - That's because, for many roles, there are "real, quantitative performance metrics" — things like how many lines of code someone has checked in, he said.

“If you’re trying to collect carbon dioxide in the air, it’s like trying to suck all the carbon dioxide through a tiny soda straw,” Tom Chi, founder of @atoneventures.bsky.social, tells @kbrigham.bsky.social.

Meet the climate tech investor who's steering very clear of direct air capture ⬇️

i'm very familiar with climate activist's opposition to direct air capture, but i rarely hear those concerns echoed by climate-focused investors. here i dig in with Tom Chi from @atoneventures.bsky.social on why he's steering clear of DAC, and choosing to bet on nature-based solutions instead

Marie and Pierre Curie discovered polonium and radium in 1898, writes @thegoodtomchi in @digifrontier magazine.

This discovery alone could have allowed us to skip a century of fossil fuel use and its associated emissions, but we chose a different path, he says.

Founding partner Tom Chi was on it, telling Bill Weir that we could stop fighting about climate technologies if the cost was so compelling they just get adopted without any questions.

A funny thing happened between 2020 and 2025. The UK's cost to reach net zero fell by 75%. The net cost is a mere 0.2% of GDP or about £4 billion per year, after accounting for the savings from energy efficiency and falling fossil fuel consumption.
