I just dug up some of my photos from then and it's wild how old they look already.

Yeah this was in Chicago about twenty years ago, so attitudes have probably shifted, but the relationship between cars and bikes was very adversarial and confrontational. More than a few of them got out of their cars to yell at us, tried to run us over, etc. I'm happy things are changing!

Yeah I came up through Critical Mass and was very much indoctrinated with these viewpoints– I remember a lot of talk about how we should resist bike lanes lest we be relegated to them. There turned out to be some truth to that, but we all deserve better. It gets exhausting fighting cars ever day.

I have given up a lot of my old favorite foods. I'm sure some of it can be attributed to me getting older and my tastes changing, but a lot of processed food is just noticeably worse. Most candy bars use way lower quality chocolate now, most fast food got worse, etc
