Putting the sauce in awesome.

You can also find me @atomicpoet@atomicpoet.org.
Look at that.

Trump “respects” Ontario Premier Doug Ford. Calls him a “very strong man.”

And he’s only saying this because millions of Americans were on the precipice of real harm.

It took 35 years, but the Nikkei 225 has not only reached its 1989 stock market highs, it's been able to sustain those highs for at least a year.

Which, all things considered, is pretty incredible.

Because the Japanese stock market was a case study of near-permanence in bubbles.

#DeepSeek popped the #AI bubble! It's triggering the collapse of the #StockMarket!

At least, that's what everyone else was telling me.

But look at the stock market today. The NASDAQ Composite is close to it's all time high. And what's more, nobody noticed!

Just bought these Sony MDR-EX15LP in-ear headphones.

They’re not amazing, but for $10—decent. They fit well in the ear. And as far as treble is concerned, they’re all right.

However, the bass leaves a lot to be desired. That said, they don’t sound tinny, and at least there’s bass.

Sister Sledge - He’s the Greatest Dancer / Somebody Loves Me (1979)

The disco era had a lot of great bass, but I’d say “He’s the Greatest Dancer” is one of the best—probably tied with “Good Times”. And funny enough, Nile Rodgers wrote both songs. Was supposed to be a Chic song.

Shonen Knife - Rock Animals (1993)

One of the most punk rock bands to ever exist—precisely because they’re a bunch of Japanese girls singing about cute boys, kitties high on catnip, and delicious mushrooms.

Also one of my favourite bands ever.

A split 7” single of Fire-Toolz and R23X.

Oddly, I bought this as a retro game convention. And it’s an intriguing mix of synthwave and death metal. Shouldn’t work but it does.

Kate Bush - Never For Ever (1980)

Her 3rd album, and worth it alone for Babushka, but every track is a killer. What an amazing musician. Kate Bush truly is a rock goddess.

This album cover is incredible.

It's simultaneously pleasing and displeasing.

I salute whoever made this.

This is hilarious.

That said, as a straight man, I have no desire for bone boobs whatsoever.

This is bothering me because I know this cassette is old: it was made by Ampex. But I don’t know which year it came out.

I’m guessing 1971?

Just listening to The Jam while sipping a beer.

Kate Bush - Lionheart (1978)

An incredible prog rock album. Yes, I said “prog”—because that’s what this is and Kate Bush is one of the greatest prog rockers to ever do it. And what a voice!

Love trawling through 45 bins because I always find these records from obscure punk bands.

This one by a band called Pebble from Vancouver, Canada.

I’m trying this.

#Tapestry by @chockenberry@mastodon.social was just released today!

I have installed it, and it looks impressive.

I’m also happy to report is works seamlessly with #Akkoma, though it calls it #Mastodon — which I’m absolutely fine with. 🙂

WHAT?! 😮

#Threads just took a page out of #Bluesky’s book and implemented a custom feeds feature.

So basically, Threads now has Bluesky’s major selling point—which is choose-your-own-algorithm.

Just tested the FiiO CP13’s ability to output to my car stereo.

I cranked the volume knob to its highest and heard no distortion.

And the device performs well when the car is in motion.

Thrilled to see coil style audio cables in the wild.

In my experience, they tend to be quite durable.

😂

Trump stans like Tim Pool have no bloody clue about Canada.

We’d rather burn the economy to the ground then live under the thumb of the USA. If you want to go to war, we will go to war.

About to crack this Lauffey album open!

People often ask me, "Why are you still into cassettes?"

Here's a big reason. If you go onto #Bandcamp, you'll discover that a whole lot of new releases are on cassette. And actually, a whole lot of releases are *only* on cassette.

Oh my God! This is a beautiful device!

And the feel of the brushed metal is incredible!
February 3, 2025 at 8:38 PM
Look what I just got!

A FiiO CP13!

A new portable cassette player!
