Why does it seem like nearly everything I enjoy these days ends up being an oppressive tool of the state?

Discord servers are like Pokémon to me. I'll join basically any random Discord I find.
So far I've only inadvertently joined (and left) one completely gross one. Mainly had great finds, like the 9/11 Archives. At worst they're quiet but I can still collect the server's emojis.

TSA on domestic flights for 8+ years, incl. 2 weeks ago: "Your NEXUS ID is sufficient identification."
TSA just now: "I need a second form of identification."
When asked why: "Sir you have your rights and I have mine." 🙄

IMO, more devs should do this to encourage secure user habits. Huge kudos to you.
