A much needed wake-up call for the University of Birmingham.

The HSE has confirmed what staff have said for years: excessive workloads and chronic stress are systemic and causing real harm.

Now we need real change not just box-ticking.

We unequivocally support UCU staff on strike today! They have been so supportive, knowledgeable and hard working for our branch over the years. We can always count on them to have our backs. It's time to have theirs. Read our branch statement to Jo Grady the GS too. It's time to resolve this dispute

Saddened to see another treasured colleague leave UCU. We must stop the bleed of talent from UCU and fight for a better workplace for the benefit of all.
Well, I officially no longer work for UCU. Slightly earlier than *I* had planned, for reasons outside of my control.

I'm very sad. But I'm also beyond proud of the work we did and the wins we won with PGR members. Onward PGRs, and Onward @uniteucu.bsky.social.

Our employer is editing our members’ out-of-office replies to remove reference to our strike action. They are choosing to censor us rather than talk to us.

We deeply regret our strike action which begins today in our Campaign for A Safe and Professional Workplace. With our dispute now a year old we remain resolute that the toxic bullying culture, racism and victimisation that our members and officers are experiencing must end.
