(3) Long term leave is crucial to secure safety, rights and recovery. Yet, in 2024, just 4% of survivors received a grant of VTS leave. Without stable immigration status, non-British survivors experience constant fear and anxiety and are pushed into poverty and destitution.

(2) Article 14 requires states to issue a renewable residence permit to victims when their personal circumstances require it or they are cooperating with criminal investigations. We shared the challenges of securing temporary permission to stay for survivors in the UK.
