Saturn Nebula is a planetary nebula 4000 light years away in the constellation Aquarius. The colorful display is shells of gas being blown out feom the central star. It is the grand finale for this sun like star. #astrophotography #stellarvue140 #asi2600mm

The universe is a beautiful place. Any ugly thing that happen on a mote of dust floating in a sunbeam in a far corner of the Milky Way do not change that fact.

This is a nebula created by explosions of gas coming off an active star (WR134). I shot this bicolor image over 3 nights this summer.

Moon image shot on June 2nd last week. Stellarvue 140mm refractor and Zwo ASI2600mm pro camera.

The Whirlpool Galaxy (M51), 31M ly away in Canes Venatici. Captured with a Stellarvue 140 SVX + ASI2600MM using HaLRGB filters. Hα reveals star-forming regions, and the companion galaxy distorts the spiral arms in this classic case of galactic interaction.

Bode’s Galaxy shot with my #Stellarvue 140 refractor. Bode’s hosts a supermassive black hole - one of the most massive black holes in a nearby galaxy. This active galactic nucleus influences the galaxy’s structure and even its interaction with its neighbor, the Cigar Galaxy (previous post) #m81

The Cigar Galaxy is a chaotic starburst galaxy. It is undergoing an extreme rate of star formation. The red outflows are clouds of ionized hydrogen gas being ejected from the galactic core by supernova explosions and stellar winds from new stars. #stellarvuesvx140t

United Healthcare revenue for 2024 was $400,300,000.00
That is 29 billion dollars more than 2023 and 76 billion more than in 2022. $133 billion came from their subsidiary OptumRX in 2024. OptumRx revenue has grown by 15% a year. How? Raising premiums and then denying procedures and medications.

This is the most detailed view of the Orion Nebula I have taken to date. The great nebula in Orion is in Orion’s sword. It is a star forming region filled with dust and glowing ionized gas. Orion will be leaving our night skies over the next month and will return again next fall. #astronomy

The Bubble Nebula a cosmic sphere sculpted by the powerful stellar winds of a massive star! Located ~7,100 light-years away, this glowing shell of ionized gas spans 10LY across. Captured in SHO using a Meade 70mm APO and ZWO ASI2600MM Pro

This is real.

And I have never seen the competence, morals, standards and communication strategy of any government collapse so fast.

Ten years ago. I took my first astrophoto of the Orion Nebula with a DSLR and lens. 5 years later I took up the hobby in earnest with a DSLR and a small telescope. Last year I upgraded my camera and was still improving my technique. Tomorrow I am getting my first new telescope since I started.

Amid today’s massive NIH cuts to universities, please know that my research colleagues:

- Develop new cancer treatments for kids
- Are curing sickle cell disease
- Build new tech to help premature babies survive
- Prevent teens from dying of drug overdose
- And more

Messier 106 is a large active galaxy. It is bigger than the Milky Way. It has an active black hole in its center that is gobbling matter and shooting out radiation. M106 is famous for masers - powerful microwaves that heat up water molecules in the core of the galaxy.

Large Magellanic Cloud shot while in Costa Rica last week. 135mm f/2 and a Canon 5DMkIV untracked. Shot 50 frames at 6.8sex at ISO 6400. First time I was fortunate enough to see this treasure of the Southern skies.
