The Boolarra Mirboo North Rail Trail is wonderful local asset that is well used by the local community and shows what can be achieved when government funding meets community volunteer effort. #visitgippsland

Time to bottle the plums! These blood plums are a variety called ‘Mariposa’ and our tree has long been the most productive and reliable plant in the orchard.

Lavish and comprehensive. It is a distillation of the plant world down to the essence of what works in Melbourne gardens. The extensive experience of the authors is everywhere apparent. Plantology by Teena Crawford and Lisa Ellis.

Some new arrivals. This little black hen is fierce and she has stuck tight to her nest protecting these little treasures until every one was hatched. All 13 of them.

High summer in the big paddock with my little flock of East Friesian milk sheep. I have the paddock divided by electric fencing. Except for two of my big old ewes, the rest are quite happy staying behind the wires.

Photos from the kitchen with produce from the garden. For me, 2025 is going to be even more about home grown and locally sourced food. Capturing carbon in the soil, reducing food miles and encouraging biodiversity in my little patch.

It has been the driest year on record on Norfolk Island, where we have been holidaying over Christmas. Although the isle is not its usual vibrant green, there are many flowers making the most of the conditions.
