🌡️ They will also measure key seawater properties like temperature and pH

Why?🧐 Well... because both the physical and chemical characteristics of seawater can affect the performance of our electrolyser ✳️

In this WP, our partners will collect real 💧seawater samples and analyse 🔬 their composition, focusing on the identification of:

• biological remains

• inorganic matter

• suspended particles such as microplastics

We’re not going to lie:

this is a HUGE challenge, but we have the previous experience of our EIC-funded project ANEMEL, and we count on the help and financial support of the Clean Hydrogen Partnership and the EU 👥💞🇪🇺

In recent years, scientists and experts have worked hard to develop hydrogen as a clean energy source to help reduce our dependence on polluting resources 👩🔬

In our case, at ASTERISK EU, our goal is to design an electrolyser that can produce energy using seawater as a feedstock 🔋⚡

Do you know why we celebrate #HydrogenDay on October 8th? The reason is quite interesting! 🧐

It turns out that the atomic weight of hydrogen is 1.008 u, making 10/8 the perfect day to discuss the future of hydrogen🗨️

However, we are committed to achieving this, as it will enable remote communities, such as those on islands, to produce their own energy in future. 🏝️⚡

Using seawater for electrolysis is a technological challenge, as it contains microplastics, microorganisms and other particles that must be removed. 🦠❌ Also, salinity can corrode our expensive technological devices!
