I used to love doing winter ascents of Mount Washington, but turned around at the Alpine Garden once during an unexpected snowstorm. The tour operators had turned around, it was 2pm, and everyone else was below! One of only three hikes I've ever bailed out because the personal risk was too high

I've also been having some terrible luck of the draw, each submission I've gotten someone who doesn't understand a difference-in-differences model.

There's a multitude of studies using similar data with similar limitations, including several of my own, and those have been published in top journals. The difference? They had more politically palatable conclusions.

Oh my... I would have to check to see if the journal was blinded, just to make sure it wasn't someone I know pranking me because they knew it'd make my head explode!

I think it's been the bane of my existence, especially on some recent projects where people have strong priors and want to find any reason to invalidate the findings
