I like and admire the FT, but I thought I'd do a quick side-by-side comparison of their editorial reactions to the UK and the EU deals with the US. Granted, the EU has scale and could feasibly engage in a trade war at enormous cost to itself, but it was the UK that set the precedent.

I was in the Financial Times a couple of months ago explaining what the US wanted in trade negotiations. It's held up well for the deals so far. In the end, the US will get the tariffs Trump wants without any retaliation, but no other concessions of substance - including on regulation or tax.
