It’s been a while since I read the essay but as I recall, Benjamin thought the aura (which I think is on some level connected to the authentic) of a piece of art was inseparable from its “realness”

Is looking at a photo of a painting the same as looking at a painting?

My kids just speed ran all 35 or whatever seasons. They vastly prefer more recent episodes and look forward to the next season.

So maybe it’s us that need to be retired.
