I was at a petrol pump in South Birmingham that dies exactly this. You pay, increments of £5, how much you want to pay then go and fill the car according to what you paid.
We live in a supposed technologically advanced world, so why can't we 'program in' the exact amount we want to spend at the petrol pump before delivery starts, to ensure it doesn't go over that amount?
Note. This is idle musing. I do this a lot. It doesn't necessarily mean I want actual answers.
