My first proper Plein air painting, it's a lot harder than I ever thought it would be but also very rewarding because of all the environmental challenges that are going on around you. Todays issue was not weather but a horde of bugs landing on the paint. @leecraigmile has been an awesome teacher!

I love varnish time! When oil paints dry, they do so via a process of oxidisation and so the colours go dull. The varnish process brings back the colour and harmonises the painting.

A little time lapse video of one I finished this week (20 hrs in 60 secs) "Split Tree on the River Pont" is of a location close to where I live that I often go to with my kids and we throw stick in the river for the dog to swim out and collect. It is a special place for me.
