What’s an indie artist you’ve discovered that had everything lined up perfectly?
Most recently for me, it's @SwaizyOfficial (Instagram) with his latest single, MOOSE.

Branding isn’t just about looking good—it’s about feeling cohesive. If I love your content but click your link and land somewhere that feels like a different artist? You just lost me.

For me, it’s the discovery journey. When I see an ad or reel that locks in a sound & vibe I love, I always click through. And if I can go from IG to Spotify to their site without ever feeling like I lost the plot? That’s when I know they’ve got their branding on lock.

But what do y’all think? Should artists automatically own photos of themselves, or should the photographer always keep the rights? Let’s debate 👇🏾 (4/4)

I’ve had artists take my photos and slap them on promo flyers without asking. Some assume “it’s a pic of me, so I own it.” That’s not how copyright works. Photographers, protect your work. Artists, respect the creators capturing your image. (3/4)

This is where contracts and licensing come in. Artists—if you’re hiring a photographer, ask about usage rights upfront. Photographers—if you’re shooting an artist, be clear about what they can and can’t do with the images. (2/4)

You don’t need a crazy setup. A quick voice note, a timelapse of your writing process, or even a reaction to hearing your mix for the first time—that’s the content that sticks. (3/3)

Too many artists only post the final product. But the artists who really build a connection? They show the messy drafts, late-night studio vibes, & moments of inspiration. That’s what gets people invested in your journey. (2/3)

What do y’all think? Should artists have final say over which photos get posted, or should photographers have full creative freedom? Let’s talk 👇🏾

I think the best approach is trust. If an artist works with a photographer who understands their brand, they won’t have to worry. And on the flip side, photographers should be mindful of an artist’s image—nobody wants an unflattering shot going viral.

As a photographer, I always try to deliver shots that make an artist look dope. But I’ve also had moments where an artist asked me to hold back certain pics. I respect it, but it makes me wonder—where’s the balance?

How far ahead do you plan your content, or are you just posting as you go?

Or do you feel like you don't really need a plan at all? (4/4)

I’ve seen artists post last-minute, rushed promo and wonder why no one’s excited. Meanwhile, artists who drip-feed content (teasers, live clips, throwbacks) win every time. (3/4)
