We are pleased to support this position from @fphuk.bsky.social. The tobacco industry remains incredibly profitable, while producing and marketing a product that will kill more than half of long-term smokers.
NEW 🔔 : FPH supports a ‘polluter pays’ levy scheme for tobacco products in the UK.

This would cap wholesale tobacco prices whilst increasing tax on tobacco or applying a new health levy, limiting industry profits & generating revenue to achieve a smokefree future.

Last month as part of the @centre21cpubhealth.bsky.social, we raised concerns about the BBC's publication of content featuring a tobacco industry executive.

The response received from the BBC did not adequately resolve our concerns, therefore we have escalated our complaint.

We have requested our complaint be reviewed and upheld, citing:

• Lack of balanced perspectives on tobacco policy
• Timing during scrutiny of the Tobacco & Vapes Bill
• Insufficient challenge to BAT's claims
