It’s nice that that rich guy is giving all that money to those child savings accounts, which is a great program, but just to put it in perspective: if an American of the median net worth contributed the same percentage of her net worth, the gift would be about $7700.

Engineer Peter Carl Goldmark was born this day in 1906. He invented the LP record, and thus, is an American hero. He was one of “The Martians,” a group of scientists of Hungarian-Jewish descent who emigrated to the US between 1890 and 1910 and absolutely changed the world. youtu.be/6g1ZPXoaIag

Jody Miller was born November 29, 1940, in Phoenix. This is a pretty remarkable song for 1965, and she sings the hell out of it. Anthemic. Miller died of Parkinson’s in 2022.
