The browser updating independently of the OS, and side-by-side installs of beta/dev/canary channels, is the industry standard. Safari not having that makes it feel stuck in the stone ages of software distribution and definitely makes testing much harder.

I've used Linux a fair bit too, and it's mostly been endless confusing system problems combined with death by a thousand papercuts in the user interface, so I'm not convinced to switch yet. Also Linux app development is a total compatibility nightmare.

To be clear, I wasn't even using Edge at the time - this was out the blue when using other software!

It might also be worth tracking compatibility mode for WebGPU, as that looks to be shipping soon
