Have you ever won a single election? I mean you are so confident of your political analysis about everyone and everything but you have nothing to show for in terms of actual electoral success. Maybe you are not that informed about politics after all.

It’s not the complexity alone but how arbitrary it is. CA has 58 counties. They all have a BOS comprised of 5 members( in addition to directly elected sheriff, DA etc) LA county however has close to 10 million people while alpine has 1400 people.

Typo above “essentially undemocratic and state is compromised of different layers”
April 16, 2025 at 10:53 PM
Also there a lot of other systems around the world that are far more democratic than US and have very different solutions for implementation of public will. Your point essentially argues none of those systems are complex enough to effectively run their countries.
April 16, 2025 at 10:52 PM
This is fundamentally on democratic state is compromised of different layers. The complexity that conservative are against is in the executive branch and in bureaucracy. However democratic elements have to be navigable for an average voter or they won’t be able to hold those systems accountable.
April 16, 2025 at 10:52 PM
The intention behind these systems is to create democracy but the design is what we question. It’s like saying US system is just as good as Norway or Swiss system because the intentions behind their creation was similar. Also why snarky tone? Why can’t you have a discussion without snark?
April 16, 2025 at 10:44 PM
I prefer CA to have one large assembly of about 300-500 members elected through proportional representation. We should do away with counties BOS but create probably 8-12 “regions” with their own assemblies proportional to population of those regions.
April 16, 2025 at 10:42 PM
I don’t think your goal is tk destroy the gov but to streamline elected positions in a way that a typical voter can navigate. DOGE is born out of deep hatred of government itself and aims to destroy it.
April 16, 2025 at 10:40 PM
I totally agree on principal with a lot of things you say. I would like to mention that democracy is about creating accountability and if the system is too confusing to voters then voters can’t hold politicians within that system accountable. This in no way is similar to what DOGE is doing
April 16, 2025 at 10:40 PM
Good! let them separate themselves from us.
April 11, 2025 at 8:10 PM
Farmers voted for this, we should make sure they get what they voted for.
April 5, 2025 at 4:27 AM
lol you resorted to insulting me because you didn’t have an answer. No I’m not an idiot but you are clearly incapable of coming up with a coherent arguments. There is a word for such a person…
April 4, 2025 at 3:51 PM
Answer what question? I already said that some charter schools underperforming is ok as long as they is choice and kids can sign up for other schools. You keep dodging my question. So you prefer forcefully keeping kids in failing public schools???
April 4, 2025 at 3:42 PM
You assertion is false. That’s not how many charter schools are in California. There is also a lot of regulation here. Also why don’t you answer the question why are you trying to forcefully keep kids in failing schools??
April 4, 2025 at 3:39 PM
Again charter school are very common in Scandinavian nations and they aren’t any of those things you mentioned. Public schools only get “defunded” if they are doing a terrible job. You wanna forcefully keep kids in bad schools and ruin their future for your ideology. You don’t care about them!
April 4, 2025 at 3:35 PM
This was the right way to reduce dependence on China and “friend-shore” manufacturing. everyone who opposed it was just wrong. I still voted for Hillary because I thought she wouldn’t completely abandon the idea and might get something done once the dust settled—but alas…
April 4, 2025 at 3:33 PM
lol you keep dodging saying anything about bad public schools. Some charter schools underperforming is actually ok as long as people have a choice to register their kids in other schools. Public schools underperforming is bad since there is no other choice for parents.
April 4, 2025 at 3:28 PM
You clutch your pearls when a charter slightly underperforms but totally silent on long list of failing public schools. You concern isn’t education, it’s your ideology of how society needs to be structured.
April 4, 2025 at 3:24 PM
Not most and also you dodged leaving kids behind in bad public schools for your ideology thing
April 4, 2025 at 3:19 PM
This is not true about all charter schools. In fact you are in favor of leaving the most vulnerable behind in. Failing public schools.
April 4, 2025 at 3:16 PM
My point was these people count as proper left In Europe. Your link proved that. Which policy gets passed and the scale of that policy of course depends on balance of power between parties.
April 4, 2025 at 4:47 AM
Again this is at EU level which is not like federal gov of US and are mostly commitments rather than actual policy even then GND was $3 trillion dollars with goal of 2030 decarbonization. This is $1.3 trillion euro with goal set to 2050. Proving my point about GND supporters being to the left of EU
April 4, 2025 at 4:41 AM
This is just their vision at EU level. I’m not asking on paper commitments. I ask again which European nation has passed anything similar to green new deal and on the scale of green new deal?
April 4, 2025 at 4:31 AM
Green new deal isn’t just basic environmentalism. Which major European nation is currently fully decarbonized? Which one of them has spent anything near levels of green new deal to fully restructure their economies around decarbonization? Germany alone keeps turning on more coal plants.
April 4, 2025 at 4:20 AM
Which center left party is currently implementing these policies?
