Loving this paper title - 'nonumentality' is a concept who's time has come! The typology proposed looks great to think with also. @alexvont.bsky.social @demantowsky.bsky.social @1972shp.bsky.social journals.sagepub.com/doi/epub/10....

Well that’s one way to begin a book.. A nearly thirty-page rumination on how a symbolic frontispiece image figures the book’s theoretical arguments… (Vico, 1999: 0 & 29).

Criticality not credulity. How 2 secure this? Knowing history can help: knowing history as a body of knowledge; understanding how histories R made & what a plausible narrative looks like & engaging in historical practices (asking questions, debating claims) all promote cognitive autonomy/resilience.

An honour to be able to contribute some thoughts on what history education can contribute to building democratic resilience to disinformation at this @coe.int event today in Malta. Thank you to the organisers & audience. Thank you also to Aurora Ailincai for summarising my arguments (below).

@coe.int’s Matjaz Gruden makes use of the Jamie Oliver ‘school dinners’ paradigm 2 help think about addressing disinformation: 1st, stop the bad stuff coming in (conventions, regulation, etc) &, 2nd, replace with healthy food (education building confidence, critical thinking & positive narratives).

Enjoying the powerful uses of history that Bjorn Berg makes in his scene-setting 4 this important @coe.int conference today, ranging from Octavian’s propaganda coins to Jacobite rumours about George II’s health. “Falsehood flies & the truth comes limping after” (Jonathan Swift). @ioe.bsky.social
