If you want some helpful ideas, look at Labor's 2019 platform. Lots of people got involved in that, only to see the entire policy dumped after a narrow defeat. If Labor had dumped a couple of the more unpopular items and kept the rest, you'd be seeing many fewer people screaming at the current govt
