Very saddened to hear about Pauline Collins. I played her son in Shirley Valentine, and I remember her being exceptionally warm, kind and supportive. In particular, I was spellbound by how deep her eyes were in real life. You could really see the beautiful soul behind them. My love to her family 😔

The great Romanian and Austro-Hungarian opera tenor Josef Schmidt. He became a radio and film star in Germany's Weimer Republic, but was eventually forced to flee after the Nazis seized total power. He died as a refugee in a Swiss internment camp in 1942 at the age of 38.

ps. Congo was born in 1954. He learned to draw near the age of two, when zoologist Desmond Morris offered him a pencil and some paper. Morris soon observed that "Congo would draw circles, and had a basic sense of composition. He also showed symmetrical consistency."

The Art Nouveau Dancer Loie Fuller, who inspired many artists of the age. Her performances used specially created light effects to illuminate her billowing costumes (see the next post on the thread).
