focusing on the school end of things and not the gun end of things just feels…perverse. these shootings don't even make up a significant portion of gun violence against youth! looking at these two graphs, it's somewhere in the 2-4% range

not that these numbers are in any way excusable, but 200 school shooting casualties a year is reminding me a lot of 100-200 stranger abductions of children per year—something we have quite famously overreacted to
