At the moment it looks like our beloved calf will have to find a new home on our campus in Heslington. We’re liaising with the artist’s family to make sure our gorgeous calf gets the most de luxe treatment prior to its journey to Heslington 🐄💓

Mine too - this is Helena the curator speaking, I adore this work! It’s so evocative, captures so perfectly a seemingly fleeting moment which is however overflowing with emotions and there’s so many stories unraveling in that tiny gesture of the shoulders rubbing against each other unexpectedly! ❤️

Well spotted!! Indeed this is the reverse of another painting in the collection, which was recorded on our database. We couldn’t locate it at first, and when we did, we discovered an entirely new painting on the other side! We’d love to exhibit both in the future. So glad you spotted this, yay!🎉❤️
