Todays work - trying to improve on larger forms and taller shapes - about 2.5kg and 20+ cm
The smaller of them definitely feels a bit to thick so extra trimming needed.

We very much treat craft and heritage arts as “nice to have” extras that just magically happen in this country and it’s frustrating
We have lost a lot of traditional industries and expertise and little windows into the past

Greenware tea pots - this is the stage where you can always see the most of the leaves naturally as they peel off and leave a little bit of themselves attached to the pot
To get this sort of quality back you have to carefully underglaze or oxide them to make them pop

It’s been almost 10 years since my wife bought me a clay sculpture class and I thought you know what I quite like this pottery stuff
And finally now have my first teapot drying out - it’s gonna be like two weeks till next studio visit though

Found this cool looking Hall teapot at a thrift store a couple of years ago. I love the shape of it, and the deep cobalt blue glaze seems to glow. Hall was acquired by Homer Laughlin China Co., now known as the Fiesta Tableware Company.
