The bad news is the graphics card I bought on eBay to replace my G5 original card doesn’t work at all. It’s not even detected.
The good news is my original card seems to work perfectly via DVI with the Asus display as long as I set it to 50Hz!

We are on wireless with WPA! Who says these cards don’t support it? 😄 They seem to, at least under OS X! Let’s go back to OS 9 and see what happens.

OK we are browsing the internet wirelessly! 😁 Sadly without any security right now, network totally open. 🙈 For some reason not even WEP is working on OS X and DHCP wasn't working (with WEP) on OS 9. Let’s see if I can turn it on now after the clock is […]

Since the Timex Sinclair interface has a RAM chip intentionally made to have the same pinout as the ROM, adjusting my circuit and code to test the RAM was quite easy. Look at that 1 KB of RAM being tested! 😁 The first chip is all good, will test the chip from […]

The Load ZX museum contributed with this contraption, an interactive archive of multiple magazines and newspaper in Portugal with pages dedicated to computers. Who remembers that section in A Capital? 😁

I ended up coming to Inércia festival! Lots of cool things here as usual. Starting with a Mac LC III restored by @luisfcorreia and my own Spectrum being tested (and it’s working perfectly so I guess I have a bit of a challenge ahead figuring out why the FDD interface won’t boot 😅).

It’s now initializing correctly (at least sounds like it!) for at least one floppy disk. I imagine many of the others lost their data sometime during the past 2 decades. But this one still has TOS or something that resembles it enough! The TOS is executed by […]

My G5 DVI output doesn’t work with anything except a HDMI to USB video input thing. Out of curiosity, I tried to plug it to this new display. It almost works! Any DVI expert out there? I expect to see this in an analog video signal, but not digital. Very curious about what may be causing this.

Update regarding display settings: apparently, turning on HDR on the Mac system settings is what restricts the display settings dramatically. If I turn off HDR again, and keep the display on the native colour profile (using its OSD controls), it allows me to […]
