Jeanine Pirro. Really.

Yep. I've been thinking that all morning. Ten years ago I would have said Dick Cheney was the most evil politician of my lifetime, with an incalculable amount of damage in his wake.

And the universe said, “Hold my beer.”

I wouldn't have thought I could possibly hate Cuomo's sniveling, predatory, corrupt ass any more, but the ads he's been running the past few days here in NYC are so ugly and Islamophobic (Mamdani in collarless shirts, huge high-contrast closeups of his scary "terrorist" face) are low even for him.

Thank you for doing this, Celeste! I saw the thread this morning and made donations to two local food banks. And--hey! I feel a little less hopeless.

And the dogs love him!

I ran a few errands yesterday and thought it was raining because I saw drops on the sidewalk. It turns out that my hair was dripping.

I also really liked this chili dog couch, though I'm not sure how you're supposed to sit on it.

This summer I visited the Spam museum (yes, there is a Spam museum) in Austin, Minnesota, which celebrates all things Spam, along with other Hormel products. And they have an entire exhibit with the Monty Python sketch on a loop, explaining how the name came to mean junk email. They seem quite proud

I did exactly the same, except it was my wallet, which had my driver's license. I grabbed a cab back to Manhattan, asked the driver to wait while I ran upstairs, then went back to the airport. They did make me gate check my bag because boarding was almost finished but I made the damn flight.

I may be kidding myself but I can aspire....

That's it exactly. I smile every time I see him. It's so refreshing.

But it's also genuine, not the faux-populist "happy days are here again, hurray!" schtick we get from He Who Shall Not Be Named.

Penguins always make me feel better. Here are two King penguins in South Georgia in January. They know how cool they are.

I didn't check the news for two whole hours, thinking it would be healthy to take a break from all the horrors, and now I am feeling that this is somehow my fault. Like if I'd just kept paying attention nothing this insane could possibly have happened.

Barbara Walters stepped on my foot at a luncheon at the Plaza Hotel. She was wearing heels and I was wearing sandals so I had a scar for a while.

She did not apologize.

This. I thought he was a terrible governor, and now I truly loathe him, but when I was stuck in my tiny apartment and people I knew were dying I watched his briefings every day. It really helped to hear, This is what is happening. This is what we know. This is what you can do to protect yourself.

Beautiful bird! I am always amazed by how noisy life in the swamp is--and I live in Manhattan!

It is fascinating, in a dark, deeply depressing way, to observe the half-baked excuses for ideas that slog through the mushy Swiss cheese of that brain. At least when he's congratulating himself for harming Taylor Swift's career or reviving the word "groceries" he's not actually destroying lives.

I was born in the Presidio! The smell of eucalyptus trees on a foggy day and catching glimpses of the Golden Gate Bridge through the trees are magical memories for me. These people aren't just morons, they're soulless. Hey, there's something beautiful that isn't making money! Let's destroy it!

I've been thinking about that this morning too--a woman dancing by herself in front of the Food Emporium, cars honking, everyone cheering. And sadly I've been consoling myself with how much more of a celebration it will be when he dies. Maybe "Don't live your life so people will dance when you die."

Just yesterday one of my adult English learners showed me a book she was reading about Balto, and I told her there was a statue of him in Central Park, not far from our school. Everyone loves Balto!

First thing I noticed--"it's mission." I didn't bother to read any more.

I tried that. I actually decided to change it to "No Kings, No Tyrants" for the next protest.
