Yup, news to me. Holy shit. IMO, swatting someone should be treated as attempted murder.

When us little people fool around in robinhood we expose ourselves to that "risk" we always hear about.
When the big boys fuck around and are about to find out, all those donations kick in and they get saved, at taxpayer expense. It's some bullshit.

Mmmmmmmm its looking more and more like "driving 7 hours to Vancouver BC to fly out of YVR" might be a reasonable move.

I like to count the Flashman series among those that successfully played on the inspiration genre, if not exactly killing and burying it.
Yes, a terrible, chauvinistic human as the character but the novels did not shy from historical events and the impacts of them.

Yeah sorry the bad vibe is from me, getting very annoyed at having to maneuver around people who don't know how to make their way through the store without blocking entire aisles.

Its not at all surprising though. Once stuff goes into the black box suddenly no one is accountable or responsible for the results! The best in corporate handwashing.
With an added bonus runaround of "only the vendor can fix it" trying to exhaust the customer so they give up.

I'm sorry, I'm sure I look very dignified, holding it by the upper corners and shaking it like a maniac to get the cover to settle onto the duvet nicely.

"Shame on them" are you fucking kidding me???? They literally have no shame! None! They've demonstrated this repeatedly! And their constituents live in a reality distortion field so no shame can reach them via third party either!
Grow the fuck up, dems. Find a spine.

Plus it funds the government to Jan 30, so they're barely kicking the can down two months down the road, while having received mouth movements to "figure out health care costs later"

The longest government shutdown (so far) is on the cusp of ending, just on the heels of an election that saw some crazy democrat wins, with a deal that secures absolutely no gains for the american people at large and hands a massive victory to the administration, for no goddamn reason.

Disgusting. On the heels of what should be a tone setting election they pull a 180 and cave, winning no reasonable concessions and handing a huge victory to the administration, while not even kicking the can 60 days down the road.

Honeycrisps are my favorite but a close 2nd are the deliciously sour crab apples from the gnarled old tree in my parents yard, with the bomus that I can pick one from the branch and munch on it while watching all the wildlife frolick. Birds, squirrels and rabbits, it's some Snow White shit.

In the midst of the depression, my grandfather was sent forth from his parents house as they couldn't afford to feed him *and* his younger siblings, so off he went to work for room and board at a farm the next town over.
Dinner the next thanksgiving was two squirrels and a few pumpkins.

I was downright enthralled for the entire run of the episode. Magnificent television. Tense, spooky to outright horrifying, with Vince's patented small moments of comedy. Just great.

I'm not arguing "scarcity is good, actually" I'm arguing roughly that treating abundance as unambiguously good without acknowledging the downsides of that abundance and inherent misalignments in the economic systems that gave rise to the abundance is akin to willingly wearing blinders.
